HOW TO GET EVERYTHING DONE IN A DAY PRODUCTIVITY TIP

This is a productivity tip you can actually use!  I stumbled across it a few weeks ago and began implementing it last week.  While reserve judgement on its long-term effectiveness, I’m really liking how it is helping me now.

Being massively productive over a long period of time can seem may seem like an arduous and perhaps unrealistic goal.   But what so many people don’t realize is they don’t actually need to work all that much harder.  They’re just not setting themselves up for a better environment of productivity and focus.  To get to a point where you’re massively productive from start to finish – you have to set yourself up for success.

What I discovered are 5 proficiencies that I can use when I really need to get a lot done.  I’m finding that when I use them together I’m just far more focused and committed.  I actually end up minimizing almost everything on my to-do list.

Caveat: These productivity tips work best for strategizing, power creation, paperwork, or anything which allows you sit down at a coffee shop or at a desk.

5 PROFICIENCIES

Number One: Find your Sacred Space.

The Sacred Space is your particular physical spot that you get to and really zone in on important things. It’s your temple of productivity. It could be a particular coffee shop that you show “you’re working” really well in, or it could even be a certain corner in your home that you’ve found that gives you additional focus . You only have to make sure that when you’re there, it’s for studying, strategizing, and considering .

If you ever goof off in that spot – you’ve officially desecrated the sacred place and it’s no longer sacred – you have to find a different locate. You ruined it.

The second productivity tip  is – Start Your Work First Thing in the Morning.

If you’re really serious about getting all done that day, and it’s really important to you, don’t check social media first thing in the morning, don’t go on your phone – just go to the sacred room as soon as possible and start getting to work.

Willpower is a finite asset.  It gets diminished with  every single decision you craft throughout the day.  In the morning, you have an abundant amount of willpower that you can use at your disposal. So just direct that glorious hyper-focus it into being productive.

Number Three:  A Proper Checklist.

You need a roadmap as to where you’re going – and making a good checklist is a lot more than  writing all your chores in random order and checking them off. You have to organize, prioritize and rationalize every single event on your list into its most fundamental element.

WORK IN SHORT BURSTS

Number Four: Use the Pomodoro Technique.

This is a familiar productivity tip for me.  I have been using a version of the Pomodoro Technique for several years.   To explain it simply, you work for 25 minutes and take a 5 minute break doing some type of non-mentally-hyperactive undertaking. This reduces the amount of mental strain associated with high levels of thought and allows you to work harder for longer periods of time.  That might seem counterintuitive, but it works!

Number Five: Set A Final Alarm

Set an alarm for a particular time that you need to start something else. Now this one might seem obvious, but a lot of people neglect it and don't really realize its importance.

I know in my working life - when I have a activity late at night and I'm trying to get work done earlier in that day, I'm always thinking of that looming deadline I have to do.  Not all my attention is focused on my present project. So in order to have the most effective work time, you have to free up mental RAM, don't think about the things you were supposed to do in the future, concentrate on the now.

Most people are familiar with at least one of these productivity tips - but very few people call on all of them in the same day.

And the in my circles of friends I do know those who've incorporated 3 or more of these tips into their daily routine.  They are some of the most productive individuals I've ever met.

So give it a try - perhaps you have a unwanted, but unavoidable, responsibility hanging over you.  Something that is  generating stress.

By exercising these productivity tips and techniques, and incorporating them in your work- you can be sure that your focus is  sharpened, your productivity will be off the charts, and you will feel like a winner.
