HOW THINKING ABOUT ONE DAY AT A TIME CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

What is your plan for the day when you wake up?  Do you have a clear idea of what you want to do?  Or are you overwhelmed with too much to get done for the day?

When your mindset is fixed on living your life mission you have much more peace about your day.  The stress is bled away in the knowledge that you have a lifetime to accomplish your mission — the goals you set are only waypoints.  Yes, you should set lofty goals for yourself, consistent with your mission and lifestyle priorities.

As you consider your goals keep in mind that there is more to your mission than just that one goal.  Take the perspective that the goal is important, but not the only thing.  It is helping propel you along your journey.  It helps you learn about yourself and the person you are to become.

We have 24 hours in a day.  In that 24 hours we have to be mindful of our health, our family, our service, our spiritual well-being, and our goals.  Start the day thinking about what can you reasonable accomplish toward your goal.  Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year.  What can you do today, then do it.  Let tomorrow take care of itself and leave the stress of what that might be on the table.

Peter Bregman outlines simple and highly effective planning method around your priorities in his book 18 Minutes.
